BSP Country Manager, Kevin McCarthy made the announcement today saying that an early response was necessary during this time of national crisis. "We have Fiji at heart. Community and Vanua form an integral part of our values. This donation demonstrates that commitment," said Mr McCarthy.
"The Winston crisis situation demands for a national effort to rebuild our beloved nation. I invite other like-minded organisations to step in and help," urged Mr McCarthy.
The BSP Winston Relief Fund will be given to reputable charity organisations experienced in identifying and delivering assistance early.
As Fiji's leading financial services provider, we strive to deliver excellence in service during this time. "We resumed full services in all major centres except in those areas badly hit by Winston namely Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki and Taveuni. ATM, EFTPoS, SMS and Internet Banking services remain operational subject to the local availability of power and telecom services.
Mr McCarthy expressed his sympathy to those who are suffering losses at this time. "Many of our staff and their families were also affected. We are working with them to evaluate their needs and will support them through this time."
In addition to that we are offering support to our customers. "We will be compassionate to those that have been affected by this national tragedy. Please talk to your Personal Banker, Relationship Manager or a Life Insurance Advisor about your situation. We are open to alleviating their financial burdens through renegotiated repayment schedules and deferred life insurance premium payments. Please understand that we are keen to help you through this time," Mr McCarthy confirmed.
