THE Fiji Bowling team to the XV Pacific Games received a boost when Bank of South Pacific presented $7,500 towards their final preparations as they prepare to leave for PNG.

BSP General Manager Retail Ravindra Singh said the Bank has had a long and healthy relationship with the sport. "We are impressed with the gold medal potential of the lawn bowls. Past performance in the international arena has been impressive in comparison to all other sports in Fiji."

"Also impressive was the selection process and preparation undertaken. I am told the four national trials for the final 5-men and 5-women team was tough and based on merit," Mr. Singh said.

"We are proud to be the major sponsor of the games. We are also delighted to be a major partner for Team Fiji. We're living our values through assisting 18 federations out of the 26 sports going to the Games."

"But that is not the end of it. You are still entitled to the rewards offered in our BANKING ON GOLD programme that we have committed towards the athletes in Team Fiji. Banking on Gold will be a small reward for the dedication and sacrifice you have made to for our country. We hope your players perform beyond their potential."

Radhika Prasad, one of our most internationally experienced bowlers complimented the Banks contribution not only to bowling but other major and minor sports. "I take my hat off to BSP. Not only have they assisted the federations but have come up with good incentives for players. For as long as I have represented my country no company has rewarded us financially when we won gold. I can see that BSP is not only sponsoring for publicity but also recognizing our personal sacrifices,''Mrs Prasad said.

Mrs Prasad said they are ready. "It won't be easy. We will be challenged by playing on artificial greens. We have two days of practice on this surface in PNG before competition starts."

BSP will be awarding all Gold medal winners from PNG with cash incentives from $500 for individuals , tiered up to $2,500 for teams.
