BSP sponsors Fiji Human Resources Institute

THE BSP Group, comprising of the bank, BSP Life and BSP Finance, presented their $110,000, sponsorship to the Fiji Human Resources Institute today in Suva.

 

THE BSP Group, comprising of the bank, BSP Life and BSP Finance, presented their $110,000, sponsorship to the Fiji Human Resources Institute today in Suva.

 Officiating at the presentation, BSP's General Manager Human Resources, Howard Politini said that their sponsorship reflected the high value BSP placed on human capital and the importance on raising the competency levels of human resources practitioners in the country.

"This sponsorship will assist the FHRI obtain the necessary resources to move the institute and its members forward in terms of accreditations and best practices,'' Mr Politini said.

 "We have also committed to helping improve the financial literacy levels of FHRI's members."  He used the example of the age of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) which is the catalyst in business today.  "Just this week BSP upgraded its Core Banking systems to make it one of the most modern bank IT infrastructure in the region.  Even with the best ICT systems you still need people.  And when you talk about Human Resources you are talking about people."  Politini reiterated how people were an organisation's greatest assets.  He urged employers to be more honest and empathic to their employees.

 "We appraise sponsorship opportunities very carefully.  We invest where we believe it is needed and have the confidence that it will be well utilised.  Our aim is to help the human resources practitioners in our country, consistent with one of our core values being People."

 President of FHRI Balbeer Singh confirmed that this is the largest sponsorship received from any corporate organisation.

 "This sponsorship will enable us strive for greater heights with our programs," said Mr Singh.

 Mr Singh said the FHRI was committed to working with BSP to run better programs to develop human resources in the country over the term of this three year sponsorship.

 

The FHRI, established on 25 August, 2005, has the role to improve human resources management throughout the country.
