Bank gives back to Rakiraki ratepayers

Date: 16 December 2014

The unveiling of the Rakiraki multipurpose court will see the inclusion of three more sports namely volleyball, netball and badminton to enable customers and members of the community to keep fit and healthy.

Rakiraki ratepayers received a much needed boost today from the Bank of South Pacific.

Speaking at the handover, BSP Rakiraki manager, Ronica Prakash reaffirmed the bank's commitment to the community. "We understand and appreciate that at least 80% of deaths in Fiji result from non-communicable diseases. These are preventable deaths if people chose to live healthy lifestyles with good diets and physical activity. This multipurpose court will help the local community keep physically fit."

The Acting Special Administrator, Mr Cirikiyasawa Ralulu welcomed BSP's much needed support using it as a platform to challenge other corporate organisations to join in the effort to help Rakiraki grow.

"We thank BSP and invite other corporate organisations to come forward and also offer a helping hand. There is a lot to do and a collective effort is what we really need," he said.

BSP allocates $10,000 annually to Rakiraki branch for a community projected earmarked to help the community. This year the focus has been on sports development and will carry forward to 2015 in line with the banks Pacific Games sponsorship.
