BSP delivers "SMS Alerts" for Fiji's employees

Date: 7 August, 2013

BSP – Fiji’s leading bank has successfully implemented “Salary Alerts” which notifies workers through mobile phone text messages when a salary deposit has been made into their BSP account.

This latest innovation in BSP’s SMS Banking technology is a first for Banks in Fiji.

“BSP SMS Alerts on payday promises “peace of mind” and convenience for people to conduct work as normal with the added assurance that their salary has been deposited as expected into their bank account,” said BSP’s GM Retail Banking, Mr Lew Kenah.

This new service is available to all salary/wage earners in Fiji who currently bank with BSP and have registered for SMS Banking.

“Our most frequently received customer enquiry on known pay days has been related to salaries and I feel that Human Resource personnel face the same dilemma. With SMS Alerts, we anticipate these enquiries should drop substantially and we invite HR teams to talk to us about extending this facility to their staff,” said Mr Kenah.

Tens of thousands of BSP SMS Banking customers are currently enjoying SMS alerts free of charge. BSP confirms that this service will begin to incur a $0.25 fee per SMS alert from 1 October, 2013.

“We anticipate that customers will appreciate this manageable fee in comparison to the alternative of having to pay more in making a phone call or traveling quite a distance to check their account for salary deposits,” added Mr Kenah.

SMS Alert is limited to salary deposit notifications only and customers or HR departments wishing to sign their staff members up for this service are invited to call BSP Customer Care Centre on 132 888.
