BSP extended an invitation to schools to participate in the School Clean Up Day on Friday 16 September, the eve of “Clean Up the World Day”.

The initiative is endorsed by the Ministry of Education and the Department of Environment.  It is well promoted by the Fiji Times and Fiji Broadcasting Corporation's Today FM station.

The 2011 Go Green focused on schools.

The invitation was well received across Fiji with 172 schools, 34,869 students and 3,524 teachers and friends (adults) participating.

The larger schools, with over 1,000 students, included Vashist Muni Primary School in Navua and Sangam Colege in Nadi

BSP take an active interest in the environment because we are a Pacific bank and the global climate changes are having substantial impacts on the habitats of the people of the Pacific with rising sea levels threatening the existence of some of the islands.

The campaign aims to increase the Pacific people’s awareness of the sensitivity of our environment. We want our future generations to love and respect their environment which is the fundamental source of life. We want you to not only be conscious of your surroundings but also think about how you dispose of their litter.

Upon registration at branches, schools collected their clean up kits which contained  of rubbish collection bags and disposable gloves together with some BSP promotional items to reward the children participating.

Go Green is a regional campaign by the BSP Group conducted annually in the countries that we operate in. It involves over 50,000 people across the 4 countries, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Niue.
