BSP is proud to announce the appointment of Mr Cecil Browne as General Manager Retail Bank for Fiji.
Mr Browne is a Fiji citizen with over 35 years of banking experience starting with the Barclays Bank International Limited in Fiji. While with Barclays he served tenure in London in 1979 and 1982.
Most of Mr Browne's career was with the ANZ Bank after its acquisition of the Barclay's Bank in the Pacific in 1985. Mr Browne's additional overseas experience was through his postings in Melbourne from 1992 to 1994 and the Solomon Islands from 1998 to 2001 while with ANZ.
Mr Browne had been the Deputy General Manager for ANZ Fiji operations from 2001 to 2008 and was responsible for Personal Financial Services, Business Financial Services and Corporate Banking until his retirement 2009.
Announcing the appointment, BSP Fiji Country Manager Kevin McCarthy said, "We are delighted to welcome Mr Browne to BSP. His tremendous banking knowledge and experience will contribute to the growth of BSP in building a strong business in Fiji."
In accepting the role Mr Browne said "I'm excited to be part of BSP and I'm looking forward to working with the team going forward. I see the potential and opportunities for BSP and our customers within BSP's growth strategy and I look forward to the respective challenges ahead."
Mr Browne is married to Margret and they have two children. He has represented Fiji in cricket as the National captain from 1977 to 1994. He also represented Fiji in five Mini World Cup tournaments. Now his chosen sport is golf and he continues to improve his handicap which is 11.
Mr Browne takes over the role from John Harper who will continue his career with Auckland Savings Bank (ASB) in New Zealand. Mr McCarthy acknowledged Mr Harper's distinguished leadership of Colonial National Bank in the three years that he was in Fiji.
